Lodging
The conference secretary has blocked rooms at some hotels, inns and bed & breakfast's near the Central Campus in Ann Arbor. Most are within walking distance to the conference venue. Please book directly with the establishment, mentioning ICCM 2007. Prices quoted are subject to change and availability, reflecting only the least expensive room rate. The star rating is not official and is provided by the conference secretary.  Reservations should be made as soon as possible. Rooms are to be released and subject to availability after June 1, 2007

Travel
Ann Arbor, a university town of 110,000 people, is located 40 miles (60km) west of Detroit along the banks of the Huron River. Regularly listed among the best places to live in the US, Ann Arbor's cosmopolitan ambiance is matched only by its classic, small town charm.

The newly remodeled Detroit Metro Airport, less than 30 minutes drive from Ann Arbor, welcomes nonstop flights from more than 60 cities in the US and dozens of international destinations. From the airport, take a shuttle (from US$35.00) or a taxi (US$40.00-50.00) to Ann Arbor. Below is the driving direction from Detroit Metro Airpot to downdown Ann Arbor:

  • Go onto Merriman rd. (0.3 miles). Merge onto I-94 W toward CHICAGO (21.2 miles). Take the State st. exit - EXIT 177 (0.3 miles). Turn right onto S. state st and you are in downtown Ann Arbor.

Parking in the campus of the University of Michigan and within its walking distance is very difficult and is not advised. If your hotel is not within walking distance of the symposium venue and does not offer a shuttle service, please refer to this link for the campus visitor parking and the city public parking. Ann Arbor Street Art Fair (July 18 - 21, 2007)

Established in 1960, the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair is the Original of the now four award winning art fairs attracting over 500,000 attendees from across the nation and was recently named the Number One art fair in the country by AmericanStyle magazine readers survey (October 2004).

Museums

Kelsey Museum of Archeology: Housed in Historic Newberry Hall the Kelsey Museum features a collection of artifacts from the civilizations of the Mediterranean. Two permanent galleries: Egypt and the Ancient Near East and Greece-Etruria-Rome 1000 BC - AD 500, exhibit pottery, sculture, inscriptions, funerary objects, and jewelry. Special exhibitions and public programs are featured as well.

The University of Michigan Museum of Art: Considered one fo the finest university art museums in the country with collections in excess of 17,000 works of art. Western, Asian, and African holdings include masterworks by such artists as Durer, Whistler, Monet, Picasso, and today's avant-garde.

The University of Michigan Exhibit Museum of Natural History: Houses the states largest collection of dinosaur skeletons and displays highlighting Michigans prehistoric past. The planetarium offers a 360-degree domed screen that surrounds the audience. Stargazing shows on weekends.

Detroit Zoological Institute: Composed of the Detroit Zoo, the Belle Isle Nature Zoo, and the Belle Isle Aquarium. The Detroit Zoological Institute, founded in 1928, is committed to celebrating and saving wildlife on 125-acres of natural exhibits. Major exhibits include: Arctic Ring of Life, Wildlife Interpretive Gallery, Siberian Tigers, and African Lions.
